Who am I?
My name is Suzana and I am passionate about helping dog owners and their dogs reaching their full potential. I have a masters degree in human psychology, applied behavior analysis, cognitive science and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). I have been in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) field since 2008. I studied animal behaviour during my undergraduate academic career and I am CPDT - KA certified. I am passionate about everything to do with dogs. I have worked with rescue dogs, foster dogs, helped with various dog fundraising events and helped take care of dogs in need. My mission is to empower current and future dog owners with positive training techniques (force free) to raise balanced and well adjusted dogs.
My two dogs are my pride and joy.
Bella is miss social personality and a companion dog. She is a Bulldog & Shih tzu Mix (6.5 years).
Kingsley is a blondie bully who is super shy however, once he gets to know you, he will be your BFF. He is an Oldee English Bulldog (3 years old).
Why pick me?
I will use my work and education experience in Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) specializing in designing and implementing strategies with humans and animals to help you build a positive relationship with your dog, address challenging behaviours (i.e., jumping on furniture), develop positive behaviour strategies and most importantly, empower dog owners to feel confident and happy raising their dogs. I have strong dog handling skills, ability to read dog’s body language, good communication, ability to adapt quickly, make decisions, and a love and passion for working with dogs and their owners. I don't only work with dogs. I train people to train their dogs. This is where I am different from most dog trainers. A well balanced dog starts with you!
What is Applied Behaviour Anlaysis (ABA)?
Most of you are wondering what Applied Behaviour Analysis means. The textbook definition is “...the design, implementation, and evaluation of environmental modifications to produce socially significant improvement in human behavior. Applied Behavior Analysis includes the use of direct observation, measurement, and functional analysis of the relations between environment and behavior. Applied Behavior Analysis uses antecedent stimuli and consequences, based on the findings of descriptive and functional analysis, to produce practical change.” Now I know that sounds like a lot of confusing behaviour terms, but ABA is used to teach and change behaviour.
My background & Education
My background is Masters in Psychology & Applied Behaviour Analysis (described above). As a behaviour analyst, I provide group therapy to children, youth and adults with special needs (Aspergers, ASD, anxiety, learning disabilities, dual diagnosis, just to name a few).
